September 2026 Round-Up: Your Revenue Target Needs a Budget Behind It

In this edition: how to turn your revenue forecast into a Go-To-Market budget, Roadmap at the LinkWell Golf Socials, and two new podcast episodes on the numbers behind your revenue plan and fixing the sales and marketing silos.

Your revenue target comes with a price tag, whether anyone has calculated it yet or not.

Every customer you win comes through a Go-To-Market motion, and each motion produces customers at a different cost. Some have room to grow. Others are already at their limit, or held back by a team that can't follow up on the leads coming in.

When the budget starts from last year's spend plus a percentage, nobody can say where the next dollar should go. But building it with mathematical models gives you that answer. You start with the number of customers you need, then look at what each motion can produce and scale from there.

In this month's article, Steve lays out four steps to build a budget for driving growth, including how to calculate your cost of growth and customer acquisition cost before you commit the money.

Roadmap at the LinkWell Golf Socials in Winnipeg and Edmonton

This September, the Roadmap team joined LinkWell for two of their annual Golf Socials. The first was the Manitoba event at Bridges Golf Course in Winnipeg on September 3, followed by the Alberta event at The Quarry Golf Course in Edmonton on September 23, where we were proud to be a hole sponsor.

What makes these days stand out is how deliberately LinkWell builds them. Foursomes are put together on purpose, pairing people and businesses that should know each other, and each introduction comes with a reason both sides will care about. LinkWell calls this Co-Active Networking, and it is at the heart of how they work with their clients.

LinkWell helps businesses across Canada design, implement and manage group benefits and retirement plans. Alongside that work, they connect clients to new opportunities through their national network and Co-Active Networking events, and their recently launched LinkPerks platform gives clients one more way to connect. If you're looking for more than a benefits provider and want a partner who will support your business and its growth, we encourage you to check them out.
